Valve Prepping UI for Console?
Today Valve released the beta for a new TV-friendly Steam UI by the name of “Big Picture”. Big Picture is the same Steam we know and love but with the addition of controller-based input (keyboard and mouse still an option) and a web browser. Valve has also included a new controller-based virtual keyboard.
This is a cool first step to getting Steam on your TV. Unfortunately for now, you still need a PC connected via HDMI (or similar output) to your TV.

Rumor has it that Nvidia will be dropping a new version of the GTX 560 Ti on us soon. The new cards are said to be based on the GF110 chip instead of the GF114.
“The new 560 Ti will essentially be a 570 with 14 (and one disabled) streaming multiprocessor with a total of 448 cores, up from the current 384. The clock speed is expected to be below that of the 570. Expect to see the 320-bit memory interface with 56 TMUs and 40 ROPs.”
Power consumption is expected to rise as well.

Flexible Nokia Phone
This week at Nokia World, Nokia showed off a concept phone that is FLEXIBLE. I know, crazy right?! There has been a lot of talk about flexible OLED displays in the industry but not completely flexible phones!
Nokia showed off functions tied to the flexibility like being able to zoom in and out of pictures, play and pause music, and scroll up and down through selections. Pretty crazy how far technology has come in the past couple of years.
Hurt Others For The Better?

German hacker group The Hacker’s Choice, has released THC-SSL-DOS which is designed to highlight weaknesses in SSL and force “the industry” to make SSL more secure.
“We are hoping that the fishy security in SSL does not go unnoticed. The industry should step in to fix the problem so that citizens are safe and secure again. SSL is using an aging method of protecting private data which is complex, unnecessary and not fit for the 21st century.”
Trying to protect citizens by allowing others to attack innocent people… This reasoning just doesn’t make sense to me.

Apple HDTV Coming Soon?

Bloomberg is reporting that the man behind iTunes, Jeff Robbin, is working on an Apple HDTV.
“Robbin’s involvement is a sign of Apple’s commitment to extending its leadership in smartphones and tablets into the living room. Before his Oct. 5 death, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs told biographer Walter Isaacson that he had “finally cracked” how to build an integrated TV with a simple user interface that would wirelessly synchronize content with Apple’s other devices.
“It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine,” Jobs told Isaacson in the biography “Steve Jobs,” released yesterday by CBS Corp. (CBS)’s Simon & Schuster.”
Head on over to Bloomberg to read the full article.
